Green Certification is a new initiative and another chance for your hotel to get a better image in the eyes of your guests and the society. To get the Green Certification, a hotel must prove that its entire system is eco-friendly, including architecture, environment management, sustainable management, employees’ training, sustainable architecture and surroundings, and activities to raise awareness among the guests.

A hotel is environmentally friendly and implements some “green” activities.
A hotel has a satisfying level of sustainability.
Currently, there are only 80 hotels that have been certified and it beneficially distinguishes them from their competitors.
Being bike-friendly hotel
Bike is an eco-friendly means of transportation that has a lot advantages for health and mood. And what’s more amazing, it is beneficial for the resorts and hotels. Tourists enjoy sightseeing in Egypt while cycling, which makes it one of the favorite and most demanded activities for your guests in Egypt. However, they face some inconvenience searching for proper bikes, especially foreigners who are used to cycling, one of the most trip savior for them.
On the other hand, Egyptians are getting more aware of cycling and the joy it brings, so they undertake bike trips across the whole Egypt. In this case, they come with their own bikes, but require bike-friendly environment. To be comfortable for bike tourists, your hotel should provide overnight bike storage for free, clothes drying and gear space. Not only that, the breakfast serving should be rich in vitamins and carbohydrates, as well self-cooking option.

However, recycling activities are something that people expect from hospitality segment. Thus, to meet these expectations, Canopy by Hilton arranged soap recycling, Norwegian Cruise Line recycled 6000 tons of waste.
At the same time, to maintain an eco-friendly policy and the image of sustainability isn’t possible without well-arranged system that is supported by all the employees on all levels. That includes environmental and waste management, sustainable lighting, guest information, employees’ trainings. Even if you manage to gather your employees and collect some garbage from beaches and share it on social media, it will raise a great respect in the hearts of the audience and your potential clients.
To be eco-friendly is a great challenge for the hospitality industry; it requires a lot of efforts and a well-arranged system. However, it is a must due to the threats to the environment, societal demands and raising awareness of the guests who not just want to make themselves comfortable but also feel that they make an impact in sustainable programs by staying at your hotel.
